2005-10-02 - 12:52 p.m. The band at the ball last night were skilled musicians, but after playing some jazz and Ben Harper while people were eating, they went on to Kylie Minogue, which was disappointing. Listening to good musicians play terrible pop songs is awfully dull. Even they looked bored. I finally had my hair trimmed, evened up and blow dried in the afternoon by a horrified hairdresser ("You've been cutting it yourself?!"). It's still sitting very sleekly around my face. I felt a little robotic in my dress, as the tightly laced top held my back up in a very firmly upright position, but managed to eat and dance a little without any fainting incidents. I have a book out from the library called Instant Self-Hypnosis (which essentially involves reading hypnosis scripts out to yourself), and have been doing little 10 minute hypnosis sessions. I have no idea whether the suggestions have been effective or not, but I do feel hypnotised while I'm reading. I'm doing a weight loss script, and want to try a lucid dreaming one. I'd love to be able to dream lucidly. So the plan for this afternoon - a bit of hypnosis, a bit of violin practice, and a bit of Terry Pratchett while lying on the bean bag. The perfect Sunday.
