Forest Dreaming

2005-08-27 - 10:58 p.m.

As the lack of updates this week may have suggested, I've been extremely busy at work. Various unexpected things happened on several files, and I went to work early on most days. On Friday I was in court all day, which I find exhausting in and of itself, but was made more so by the fact that we lost our argument, and the client was rather unhappy with the result. Thankfully, I didn't have to break the bad news, but by the end of Friday, I'd had quite enough of the office for the week.

I went out to a book club meeting today in New Farm Park, where we picnicked on Sicilian themed food, talked a lot (and not much about the book), and played a ridiculous game of hacky sack, which proved that all of us seriously lack coordination skills.

I really enjoy the monthly book clubs, and I'm glad I started them up - it's generally my one big social outing with my friends during the month. Cate and I generally meet up during the week for lunch, but it's always rushed and we're generally preoccupied - it's much more enjoyable actually going out socially on the weekend.

All the flowers in the front yard think it's Spring already, and assuming that it would therefore be fairly warm and pleasant today, I didn't take a jumper to the park. Not such a great idea - while the flowers may think that the weather's become warmer, my body thermometer doesn't agree.

I'm rather annoyed that many of the supposedly purple and maroon pansies that I bought have turned out to be white. I'm never going to trust a description of seedlings again. They do look rather pretty, nestled around the bases of the palm trees, but I was hoping for a vivid display of purples and reds.

Something I've been working on recently - an attempt at blogging some childhood memories. In its infancy at the moment, but I hope to write more shortly.
